Stories Then & Now

"Stories Then & Now is not only nourishing theatrically, but socially.
It's important work. Vital, in every sense."

Directed by master storyteller and celebrated photographer William Yang and writer and producer Annette Shun Wah, Stories Then & Now is an inspiring theatre work bringing together six Asian Australians to tell personal stories from their past to unravel the threads that lead to their present day lives.

Taking the audience from historical conflicts in China, Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam and Sri Lanka to the fraught family sqabbles of suburban Australia today, these candid narratives are drawn from the rich life experiences of academic and author Ien Ang, performer and writer Jenevieve Chang, video journalist, Michael C.S. Park, writer and radio producer Sheila Pham, social worker and food writer Paul van Reyk and civil marriage celebrant Willa Zheng.

Music by Nicholas Ng.

Stories Then & Now premiered in a sell out season at Carriageworks in May 2013.  It performed at Casula Powerhouse, and sold out at the OzAsia Festival, Adelaide Festival Centre.
