Karilyn Brown

Director

Karilyn Brown was appointed Course Leader, NIDA MFA (Cultural Leadership) in January 2019.

Prior to that, Karilyn was the CEO of Performing Lines (2013-2018) and General Manager of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture (2009-2013).

At the Australia Council for the Arts, Karilyn was Deputy Director, Visual Arts and Crafts Board (1988-1994) and Executive Director, Arts Development (2001-2009), responsible for national and international audience and market development strategies, as well as Australia’s participation in the Venice Biennale and the Australian Indigenous Art Commission at the Musee du Quai Branly in Paris.

Karilyn was Program Manager for the 1997-2000 Olympic Arts Festivals and Paralympic Arts Festival programs with Sydney Organising Committee for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Her board memberships have included ArtBank, Object Contemporary Design, Artspace, Stalker Theatre Company, Chair of the Australian Performing Arts Touring Alliance and the NIDA Academic Board.
