A New Appointment for the New Year

Suzanne Pereira 800px

Contemporary Asian Australian Performance (CAAP) is delighted to welcome Suzanne Pereira as its new General Manager. Suzanne brings a wide range of experience spanning performing arts, marketing and investment to this newly created role. Trained as a director and actor, Suzanne’s creative and corporate experience has led to representation at board level with arts companies and service organisations as well as creative roles across independent and main stage theatre. She currently serves on the boards of Darlinghurst Theatre Company, Theatre Network NSW as Deputy Chair, and previously chaired WITS (Women In Theatre & Screen). She leaves her position as Chief Creative Officer of Global Impact Initiative to take on this new role.

Suzanne said: “Contemporary Asian Australian Performance (CAAP) was one of the first organisations I actively engaged with in respect to my identity as an Australian artist of South Asian descent. The welcoming embrace of that first experience provided a sense of belonging that I had not often felt in our industry. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with an organisation that has the voice of diverse Australian arts and culture at its core.”

CAAP’s Chair Elaine Chia said: “CAAP has punched above its weight for so many years now, and it’s fantastic for the company to have an experienced and dedicated arts manager in Suzanne to partner with Annette Shun Wah so that Annette can focus on what she does best in developing, creating, producing and nurturing Asian Australian artists and stories.”

With the addition of Suzanne as General Manager to the leadership team, former Executive Producer Annette Shun Wah, assumes the role of Artistic Director.
